About Me
Hi! My name is Quinn Hutson and I am entering the world of Secondary Science teaching. I have always been interested in teaching and learning from the time that I was a child. Now that I have a child of my own I am transitioning out of electrical work and into something I can do into my old age, so this was a natural choice.
I had originally wanted to be a teacher when I graduated from UBC in 2005. At that point there were very few jobs available, and upon reflection I also felt that I wasn’t keen on returning to high school at that time. I enjoyed my time as an electrician: the work was very practical, I enjoyed working with tools and I could see a clear result of my work. I was involved in training many apprentices and I learned a lot about maintaining clear communication and documentation where multiple people are trying to accomplish a given project. The work has been hard on my body, though, and I know a number of journeymen who are struggling to do the job into their fifties.
My wife and I moved to Prince George early in the pandemic. We have enjoyed our time here and it did not take long for us to make friends in our new home. Now that I have more experience in life and learning I feel confident in following through on my original goal of being a teacher. I conduct myself professionally, I am secure and confident in who I am as a person, and I love a challenge.
